The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has launched one of the biggest recruitment drives in Gujarat for the year 2026. A total of 2295 vacancies are being filled across various administrative, technical, and field-level cadres to improve the civic services in the diamond city of India.

Post Breakdown and Eligibility

• Clerk (Junior Assistant): 1200 Posts | Qualification: Graduate in any discipline with typing skills.
• Technical Assistant (Civil/Electrical): 450 Posts | Qualification: Diploma/Degree in Engineering.
• Peon & Multi-Tasking Staff: 645 Posts | Qualification: 10th pass from a recognized board.

Application Process and Fees

Eligible candidates can apply online through the SMC recruitment portal (suratmunicipal.gov.in). The application fee is ₹100 for General category candidates, while SC/ST and female candidates are exempted. Ensure you have a valid mobile number and email ID for all future communications.

Selection Criteria

The selection will be based on a competitive written examination followed by a computer proficiency test for clerical roles. Merit will be prepared based on the aggregate score of the written test. There is no interview for Class III and Class IV posts as per the Gujarat Government rules.
